AAA Oral Health Toolkit:

She shedules an appointment every six months!

The importance of oral health for older adults cannot be overstated. It is an essential part of healthy aging and disease prevention. Oral health awareness, education, and access to services — especially for low-income seniors — is greatly needed. By integrating oral health into the programs and services of your Area Agency on Aging (AAA), you can make a substantial difference in the health and well-being of the clients you serve.

As the lead community agencies that bring health and social services to older adults, AAAs are ideally situated to deliver oral health education and access to care information to seniors through their direct services and contracted programs.

This toolkit:

  • Showcases how oral health can be incorporated into the typical work of AAAs so that a high number of seniors are impacted
  • Is web-based, so it can be easily updated with fresh ideas and contributions, and you can adapt and customize the tools for your community’s (or AAA’s) unique needs
  • Provides cross-sharing opportunities among the AAAs to highlight “best practices” and success stories for others to learn from
