• The medications listed here have the greatest potential of causing reduced saliva. Over 1,100 medications, either prescribed or available over-the-counter, have the potential to cause dry mouth. It’s been reported that taking more than one medication with dry mouth as a side effect increases one’s probability of experiencing dry mouth and/or its severity. The more medications you take, the greater your risk of having a dry mouth.
